The New York Times Company invites applications for the 2027 New York Times Fellowship class as an editor in Digital News Design in New York. This fellowship sits at the intersection of technology, design and journalism, collaborating with reporters, editors, designers and developers to shape visual storytelling across platforms.

You will work with a team to conceptualize digital story formats, organize design projects, and craft visual assets for social channels while upholding journalistic

Qualifications

• No more than five years of full-time, professional journalism experience, excluding internships.
• Interest in visual and interactive storytelling and user experience.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Figma.
• A portfolio demonstrating digital design work.

Responsabilités

• Work under the direction of staff designers and editors in the conceptualization, sketching, design and/or development of different digital story formats
• Organize and update newsroom design projects, templates and systems
• Edit and produce visual assets for social/off-platform channels
• Help with the design, production and editing of internal training and communication materials related to design and storytelling
• Participate in training and social programs designed for the fellowship
• Collaborate with colleagues across the newsroom
• Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world
