Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist users with basic computer tasks such as Internet browsing, email, printing, and video conferencing.
  • Job applications, resume formatting, and online forms.
  • Provide appropriate resident services resources as needed.
  • Support and lead Digital Equity Program classes or tutoring sessions when and where needed.
  • Maintain the Learning Center Lab appearance, ensuring all spaces are clean, organized, and clutter‑free.
  • Ensure all computers, peripherals, and software are in working condition.
  • Submit all computer lab‑related work orders to COA as needed.
  • Monitor users to ensure compliance with lab policies (e.g., no food/drinks, ethical internet use).
  • Monitor doors and maintain contact logs according to health and safety guidelines.
  • Coordinate schedules for lab usage to prevent overcrowding.
  • Keep inventory of tech, ink, and copy paper. Inform LCM or DE Program manager when supplies are running low.
  • Maintain and organize inventory of all computer lab supplies.
  • Assist with special projects or workshops for Adult Ed programs.
  • Expected work hours: 4:00 PM-8:30 PM
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and be able to pass a criminal background check.

COMPENSATION: $20/HR

Position Description: The Digital Navigator plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the computer lab and providing direct, hands‑on digital literacy assistance to community members. This position is responsible for leading and supporting one‑on‑one and small group learning sessions, assisting with Digital Equity Program classes, and serving as the primary contact for lab‑related work orders and technical maintenance needs. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and passionate about helping others develop essential digital skills.

Note: This is a grant‑funded position for a period of one year. Continued employment beyond that term is contingent upon available funding.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities
  • Assist users with basic computer tasks such as:
  • Internet browsing, email, printing, and video conferencing

  • Provide appropriate resident services resources as needed.

  • Ensure all computers, peripherals, and software are in working condition.
  • Submit all computer lab‑related work orders to COA as needed.
  • Monitor users to ensure compliance with lab policies (e.g., no food/drinks, ethical internet use)
  • Monitor doors and maintain contact logs according to health and safety guidelines.
  • Coordinate schedules for lab usage to prevent overcrowding.

  • Must be comfortable with computer equipment, software, and provide basic technical support, including troubleshooting common hardware and software issues.
  • Must enjoy working with adults and children
  • Flexibility to meet the changing work needs and demands
  • Experience in adult education, digital literacy, or community programs
  • Ability to organize activities
  • Available during Lab Hours with some variations to assist site coverage.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to other FC sites as necessary.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and be able to pass a criminal background check (Fingerprint check required at some sites)
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Part‑time position (average 20-25 hours); evening and weekend hours may be required
  • Position requires sitting, standing, and some lifting (e.g., moving equipment or chairs)
  • Work is performed on‑site in a shared computer lab environment
