Westinghouse Electric Company LLC in Cranberry Township, PA, seeks a Digital Monitoring & Protection Systems Engineer to join the Thermal Hydraulic Design team. You will address safe plant operation by providing COLSS and CPCS analysis, calibration support, and startup procedures for the US and international fleet.

The role is hybrid with relocation available within the US. You will train, grow technical skills, and collaborate across departments to improve plant performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Nuclear or Mechanical) or related discipline.
• 0+ years of engineering experience.
• Apply fundamental engineering principles.
• Statistical related experience.
• Computer simulation, programming skills and Linux experience.
• EIT Certification completed or in process.

Responsibilities

• Participate in introductory training focused on standard analyses and obtain qualifications in Digital Monitoring and Protection Systems
• Perform standard COLSS and CPCS analysis work for US and international customers following approved methodologies
• Develop skills to assume more independent assignments and verify evaluations
• Provide plant startup support, support emergent issues and interface with customers and other departments
• Provide technical support to operations, maintenance, engineering, and fleet organizations
• Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budget
• Participate on project teams and report progress to project managers and technical lead
• Identify and recommend process/tool improvements and support implementation

About the role:

As a Digital Monitoring & Protection Systems Engineer you will join the Thermal Hydraulic Design team. You will address safe plant operation by providing two systems: Core Operating Limit Supervisory System (COLSS) and Core Protection Calculator System (CPCS). These systems will provide uncertainty addressable constants, fuel management related constants, and Reload Data Block (RDB) constants. Additionally, you will provide requirements on the calibration, measurement procedures, and startup support to the utility.

You will report to the Manager - Thermal - Hydraulic Design and work a hybrid role based in Cranberry, PA. Relocation is available within the US.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in introductory training focused on standard analyses and obtain qualifications in Digital Monitoring and Protection Systems
• Perform standard COLSS and CPCS analysis work for US and international customers. This work follows and understands approved methodologies, regulatory guidelines, procedures, and internal processes.
• Develop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and verify standard evaluations and analyses performed by others
• Provide plant startup support, support emergent issues and interface with our customers and other departments within Westinghouse to support safe plant operation and to improve plant performance and reliability
• Provide technical support to operations, maintenance, engineering, and other fleet organizations
• Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budget requirements and maintain quality of the work
• Participate on project teams and communicate to responsible project managers and technical lead the nature and status of work projects
• Identify and recommend improvements in process and tools on a continuing basis and support implementation

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Nuclear, or Mechanical) or related Discipline preferred or recognized equivalent required
• 0+ years of engineering experience
• Apply fundamental engineering principles
• Statistical related experience
• Computer simulation, programming skills and Linux experience
• Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification icompleted or in process

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $58,400 to $73,000 per year.
