Job description

At Catapult, we are supporting our member, the North Carolina Pork Council, in their search for a Digital Media Specialist. This is a full time role in Raleigh, NC with frequent day travel across North Carolina, plus occasional regional and national travel. You don't need an agricultural background-just initiative, strong organizational skills, and enthusiasm for meaningful work and continued growth.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement social media strategies, including organic and paid digital campaigns
  • Create unique and compelling written and visual content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, X, and emerging platforms
  • Develop and manage a social media content calendar, monitor content performance across channels, and lead real-time engagement and community management with followers
  • Help create a welcoming, responsive online community by answering routine questions in the NC Pork Council's voice and partnering with the appropriate team member when a comment, question, or emerging issue needs additional support
  • Compile monthly social media performance reports, with insights and recommendations, for the NC Pork Council team and board
  • Follow current and emerging social media trends, platform changes, and best practices to evolve social media strategies
Content Creation
  • Create original, engaging stories that support the NC Pork Council's goals and key messages, working with teammates to confirm details, permissions, and approvals before content is published
  • Tell stories through photography captured at events, on farms, and of the people behind North Carolina's pork industry
  • Help bring stories to life by coordinating photo and video projects with contractors, participants, and locations-from creative briefs and shot lists through final review-while following applicable permissions, safety, accessibility, and brand guidelines
  • Shoot and edit video content, ranging from vertical short-form video (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts) and digital advertising to long-form videos that strengthen the pork industry's image
  • Coordinate with staff to gather content ideas, stories, and timely updates that support ongoing audience engagement
  • Lead design of digital assets, brand campaigns, infographics, motion graphics and other materials for use across various communications platforms
  • Explore approved creative and AI-assisted tools to work efficiently and develop fresh, on-brand content, while using good judgment around accuracy, originality, privacy, licensing, and review
Communications
  • Take the lead on keeping ncpork.org useful, engaging, and up to date by creating web content, blog posts, event pages, and campaign landing pages; applying SEO/GEO and accessibility best practices; collaborating with approved vendors on technical updates; and sharing monthly insights on website performance
  • Support the team in planning, building, and reporting on email newsletters and campaigns using Constant Contact
  • Plan and deliver digital campaigns that build excitement around events, initiatives, and membership, then use social, website, and email insights to learn what resonates and strengthen future outreach
  • Lead the production of the quarterly NC Pork Report magazine in partnership with NC Pork's contracted PR specialist, including mapping out editorial content and managing the design and print production with our magazine partners
  • Monitor media, blogs and other news platforms for stories relating to the NC pork industry
  • Stay connected to industry trends and build positive relationships with partner organizations and online communities to help create great content to reach more people
  • Bring people together through engaging digital events, including webinars and live streams, that build awareness and strengthen community connections
  • Actively communicate the organization's giving and donation impacts across our consumer-focused platforms
  • Support NC Pork Council team members with communications tactics such as printed mailings, sponsorship campaigns, and event promotions
  • Work with NC Pork's contracted PR specialist on all press releases and media statements
  • Collaborate with communications professionals, freelancers, and agency partners to complete projects on an as-needed basis
  • Regularly engage with communications staff at the National Pork Board and National Pork Producers Council, including attending national meetings
  • Work cross-functionally with other staff to support the goals of the NC Pork Council
  • Keep digital assets and campaign information organized, help track project and vendor spending, partner with others to address accessibility needs, and support timely communications when fast-moving situations arise
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of organizational needs
Preferred Attributes
  • Effective communication skills, including strong writing and the ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • A strong work ethic, including the ability to work independently, plan, set goals and objectives, organize, follow through, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize projects
  • Exceptional standards of professionalism, integrity, honesty, and commitment to quality
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of the NC Pork Council
  • A desire to be a part of a highly motivated, committed team
Preferred Qualifications
  • You may be a great fit if you bring two or more years of experience in digital communications, social media, or content development-or a comparable combination of education and hands-on experience.
  • Experience in agriculture, a nonprofit, a membership organization, or an association is welcome but not required
  • Experience creating content in several formats-such as writing, design, photography, video, email, websites, or social media-and an interest in learning new creative and digital tools
  • Some experience supporting paid social or digital campaigns and using social, website, or email insights to understand what works and strengthen future outreach
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with familiarity-or an interest in building skills-in SEO/GEO, web accessibility, and creating clear, consistent, audience-friendly content
Travel
  • This position is based in Raleigh, NC. It is an in-office position with some allowances for work from home (not more than 20% of the time). It involves frequent day travel across North Carolina, plus occasional regional and national travel. Most trips are same-day; approximately four to six events per year require overnight stays.
