Job summary

Secure Community Network (SCN) is seeking a Digital Marketing Specialist to develop, execute, and optimize campaigns across social, email, and web to raise awareness, strengthen engagement, and support fundraising efforts.

This role balances strategy with hands‑on execution, including content creation, campaign management, analytics, and coordination with internal teams and external partners. The office is in Chicago, with remote opportunities for outside the area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, writing, journalism, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3–5 years of digital marketing experience, preferably nonprofit or government.
  • Experience with Canva Pro, Mailchimp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Experience designing and implementing campaigns across paid, earned, owned, and social media.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and optimizing content for search.
  • Familiar with LinkedIn, X, Instagram and evaluating social content.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are Secure Community Network (SCN), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) serving as the official safety and security organization of the Jewish community in North America. Here at SCN, we deeply value the team of people that work diligently to commit their lives to action for a better tomorrow. We are excited to add a Digital Marketing Specialist to our team.

The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing digital marketing campaigns that increase awareness of Secure Community Network's mission, strengthen community engagement, support fundraising initiatives, and expand organizational reach. They will drive day to day marketing operations across social media, email, web, and digital platforms. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands‑on execution, including content creation, campaign management, audience growth, analytics, and coordination with internal teams and external creative partners. Our office is located in Chicago, however if you are outside the Chicago area, remote opportunities are available.

What You Will Do
  • Manage digital marketing campaigns from concept through execution, including content development, audience targeting, deployment, and optimization.
  • Develop, review, and edit relevant content including social media posts, newsletters, press releases, media statements, talking points, website updates, emails, reports, and other organizational communications that reflect SCN's mission and engage donor and community audiences.
  • Manage a digital content calendar with potential future engagements, collaborating with departments across the organization, and ensuring timely coordination and execution of marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies, including creating, publishing, and curating content, engaging with audiences, and tracking performance metrics.
  • Design visually engaging graphics, social media assets, email campaigns, event materials, and other digital collateral using tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Build and deploy email campaigns through Mailchimp, including newsletters, donor communications, event promotions, and impact updates.
  • Track and analyze email performance metrics, open rates, click-throughs, and list growth, and use insights to improve future campaigns.
  • Maintain organized records, contact and distribution lists, and creative assets.
  • Leverage monitoring tools to identify trends and analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for external vendors including graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and other creative partners, managing project timelines and deliverables for outsourced creative work.
  • Ensure consistency with the organization's brand identity and visual and style standards.
  • Support crisis communications efforts as needed to ensure timely and coordinated messaging during security incidents.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, writing, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing or related roles, preferably for nonprofit or government organizations.
  • Experience with marketing and design tools such as Canva Pro, Mailchimp, and Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign).
  • Experience designing and implementing successful messaging and marketing campaigns using paid, earned, owned, and social media.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience optimizing digital content for search.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of widely used social media platforms including LinkedIn, X, and Instagram, and experience creating, publishing, and evaluating social media content.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience analyzing marketing performance metrics and using data to optimize campaigns and audience engagement.
  • Experience with WordPress or a similar website content management system preferred.
  • Video editing experience using tools such as Adobe Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro, Veed, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments as needed, independently or as a member of a team.
  • Ability to make independent and accurate decisions with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, challenging, and fast-paced organization.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential efforts and documents.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to support crisis communications and organizational products.
  • Ability to travel as needed, including by air.

The target annual salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000. Final annual salary offered may be flexible based on a thorough assessment of multiple factors and criteria which may include candidate experience and qualifications, available market data, internal salary equity, and budget considerations.
