Job Summary: The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for maximizing current and long-term revenue from donors, giving less than $10,000 annually via digital direct response channels. This includes stewardship and solicitation of donors to increase the amount and frequency of their giving across channels. The Manager is responsible for Heritage’s new donor acquisition and reactivation programs, and coordinates with the Membership team, outside vendors, and consultants to execute these initiatives.

Job Duties:

  • Manage the entire donor journey across all digital channels in collaboration with the Director and set the messaging and fundraising strategies for members who engage with Heritage online.
  • Work with the Director to set, manage, and continuously evaluate multi-million-dollar revenue goals and expense budgets to meet income, retention, and growth goals.
  • Collaborate across Heritage marketing and policy departments to develop creative assets and content offers, navigating the copy approval process.
  • Manage the housefile program via digital and new channels with a focus on retention and increased monthly giving.
  • Manage new donor acquisition across channels including managing list selection, testing, regular reporting, and analysis with a focus on growing the membership base.
  • Work with the Data Analytics team and independently develop effective strategies for donor retention, renewal, and upgrades, refining data models with new learning.
  • Analyze campaign and program-wide results to refine strategies and support a culture of testing, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with other Development departments, including Heritage Legacy Society and Major Gifts, to design, execute, and monitor trigger programs and to send mass announcements and invitations to high-touch donors.
  • Oversee online fundraising vendors, managing production schedules and directing product messaging and design.
  • Partner with the team and outside vendors to execute multi-channel fundraising and cultivation campaigns and evaluate ongoing results.
  • Coordinate with Development Operations and market research vendors to develop, edit, and execute market research campaigns, using the learnings to inform future strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of digital marketing experience
  • Technology: Microsoft Office, CRM, and CMS, Ad Tracking and Data Analytics Programs, Optimizely
  • Communication: Ability to communicate with Heritage Members and with individuals at all levels within and outside of Heritage

Other Requirements:

  • Understand and support the Heritage mission and vision for America, and the department’s goals and objectives.
  • High level of professionalism (adaptability, maturity, integrity, accountability).
  • Take initiative, requiring some direction, but with a strong desire and demonstrated ability to assume increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong detail-oriented production skills, including ability to proof accurately.
  • Experience with A/B testing and analysis.
  • Familiarity with market research strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with databases and analyze data.
  • Ability to negotiate with vendors and work effectively with consultants.
  • Ability to solve problems, work under pressure, think creatively, and act independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Benefits and Salary:

The Heritage Foundation offers a highly competitive benefits package that includes, but is not limited to, best-in-class health care, vision, and dental insurance, employer-sponsored retirement funding, “take what you need” PTO and sick leave, 14 weeks of paid leave for new moms and 6 weeks of paid leave for new dads, among other programs.
