Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage Starkloff's social media channels, including content planning, creation, scheduling, posting, and engagement.

  • Assist with email marketing content development, design, audience segmentation, and performance tracking.

Job description

Position Summary

The Digital Marketing & Creative Specialist helps bring Starkloff Disability Institute's mission, programs, events, and impact to life through engaging digital communications and creative design. This position manages the organization's social media presence and creates compelling, accessible visual and digital content across a variety of platforms.

Working collaboratively across the organization, the Specialist develops content and creative materials that strengthen Starkloff's brand, engage current and new audiences, support fundraising and events, and advance awareness of disability inclusion and Universal Design.

Key Responsibilities
Digital Marketing & Social Media
  • Manage Starkloff's social media channels, including content planning, creation, scheduling, posting, and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain a social media content calendar aligned with organizational priorities, programs, events, fundraising campaigns, and relevant disability-related topics.
  • Create engaging written, graphic, photo, and video content for social platforms.
  • Shoot and lightly edit basic short-form video content, such as Reels and first-person clips, for Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Monitor social media performance and use analytics to improve reach, engagement, and audience growth.
  • Support digital fundraising and awareness campaigns in collaboration with the Development and Program teams.
  • Assist with email marketing, including content development, design, audience segmentation, and performance tracking.
Creative Design & Brand
  • Design high-quality, accessible materials for print and digital use, including flyers, invitations, event materials, sponsorship collateral, presentations, social media graphics, digital advertisements, reports, and other organizational communications.
  • Create and adapt graphics and visual assets for Starkloff's website and digital platforms.
  • Maintain consistency with Starkloff's visual identity and brand standards across communications.
  • Help develop templates and tools that enable staff to create consistent, on-brand materials.
  • Coordinate with outside designers, printers, photographers, videographers, and other creative partners as needed.
  • Ensure materials reflect accessibility best practices and Universal Design principles.
Website & Content
  • Maintain and update website content, including program information, events, news, images, and calls to action.
  • Collaborate with staff to identify opportunities for new or refreshed website content.
  • Create graphics and other visual assets for the website.
  • Monitor website analytics and recommend opportunities to improve engagement and user experience.
  • Coordinate with external web developers or technical partners when changes require specialized development expertise.
Storytelling & Organizational Communications
  • Work with staff to identify and develop stories that demonstrate Starkloff's impact, following SDI's storytelling and consent standards.
  • Help translate programs, outcomes, and organizational priorities into compelling content for different audiences.
  • Support photography and video needs, including basic content capture and coordination of professional resources when appropriate.
  • Assist with communications for organizational events, campaigns, announcements, and other initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, digital media, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience managing organizational social media accounts and creating digital content.
  • Strong understanding of graphic design and demonstrated experience creating professional print and digital materials.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.
  • Familiarity with shooting and editing short-form video with a smartphone.
  • Experienceworkingwith website content management systems.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms and digital analytics.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while collaborating with colleagues across an organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency.
  • Understanding of digital accessibility and accessible design practices preferred.

The ideal candidate is both creative and practical-someone who enjoys developing a strong visual concept but is equally comfortable turning that concept into a social media campaign, event flyer, email graphic, or website update. They are curious, collaborative, organized, and interested in finding new ways to tell Starkloff's story and connect people to its mission. For this early career role, potential and commitment to self-directed learning will be considered along with current skills and experience.

Experience with disability inclusion, accessibility, Universal Design, or disability-led organizations is valued. Lived experience with disability is also valued and welcomed.

Salary range: $52-$60K Annually

Location

This position is based in St. Louis, Missouri, with regular in-person responsibilities. Local travel to SDI and community events for capturing content is required.
