America is running out of skilled tradespeople. Open jobs are going unfilled by the hundreds of thousands, and the gap is widening fast, putting our way of life and our national security at risk. The things that keep our country running and safe don't get built without the people who know how to build them.
Project MFG is a mission-driven organization on a bold quest to inspire the next generation to discover the trades and reframe them as what they really are: aspirational, high-impact careers that futures are built on. We do it through hands‑on competitions, discovery events, networking, scholarships, and more that connect community, education, and industry around one shared goal: growing America's skilled trades pipeline.
As the need for skilled tradespeople grows more urgent, we're expanding our team to increase our reach and help close the gap.
About the Role
The Digital Marketing Coordinator supports the day-to-day execution of Project MFG's digital marketing, content, and campaign efforts.
Working closely with the Marketing Manager, you'll help turn campaign strategies, competition milestones, events, partnerships, and student stories into engaging content across social media, email, web, paid digital channels, and event materials.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys creating as much as coordinating. On any given week, you might design social content, edit a short‑form video from a competition, build an instructor email, update a webpage, prepare event collateral, schedule a week of content, set up campaign assets, or pull performance results to help determine what's working.
You'll also have opportunities to travel to Project MFG competitions and events across the country to capture and share the people, energy, and stories behind our mission.
This position is based at Project MFG Headquarters in Kansas City, KS.
What You'll Do
- Create, schedule, publish, and monitor content across Project MFG's social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X.
- Develop engaging social graphics, short‑form videos, Reels, stories, captions, and other digital content that bring Project MFG's mission, programs, competitions, and partnerships to life.
- Execute marketing initiatives across social, email, web, and digital advertising channels in support of established campaign strategies and organizational priorities.
- Write, build, test, and send email campaigns, newsletters, promotional emails, and automated communications using HubSpot.
- Maintain audience lists and segmentation within the CRM to support accurate and effective marketing communications.
- Maintain and update website pages, landing pages, registration information, blogs, and other digital content while implementing SEO best practices.
- Support paid digital campaigns across platforms such as Meta, Google, YouTube, and LinkedIn, including campaign setup, audience implementation, creative trafficking, budget monitoring, and performance reporting.
- Monitor comments, direct messages, mentions, and conversations across social channels and help build an engaged online community.
- Track social, email, website, and paid campaign performance; maintain reporting dashboards; and surface trends and observations to the Marketing Manager.
- Create and adapt branded marketing collateral for competitions, conferences, outreach initiatives, and events, including signage, flyers, handouts, digital displays, promotional materials, and giveaway assets.
- Prepare creative files for print and production and coordinate with vendors and internal team members on routine marketing materials, promotional items, and event needs.
- Travel to select Project MFG competitions and events to capture photo and video content, identify compelling stories, and support timely on‑site social media coverage.
- Help translate technical topics—from CNC machining and welding to additive and advanced manufacturing—into approachable, engaging content for students, educators, industry partners, and the general public.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager, Video Production Specialist, events team, and other internal stakeholders to execute campaigns and keep marketing projects moving.
- Maintain and execute against the marketing and content calendar established in partnership with the Marketing Manager.
- Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while independently executing projects within established campaign strategies, priorities, and brand direction.
What You Bring
- 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in marketing, communications, social media, digital content, or a related area, or a combination of relevant professional experience and a strong portfolio.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for social media, email, websites, event materials, and different audiences.
- Experience creating social media content from concept through publication—not simply scheduling content created by others.
- A strong visual eye and hands‑on experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, CapCut, or similar creative tools.
- Experience capturing and editing short‑form photo and video content for digital and social media.
- An understanding of basic design principles, brand consistency, and preparing creative for both digital and print applications.
- Familiarity with email marketing and CRM platforms such as HubSpot, including email creation, lists, segmentation, and automated workflows.
- Experience maintaining or updating website content; WordPress or similar CMS experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of paid social media, digital advertising, analytics, and SEO fundamentals.
- Familiarity with platforms such as Meta Business Suite and Ads Manager, Google Ads, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and X.
- The ability to review campaign performance, recognize meaningful trends, and communicate observations that can inform future marketing decisions.
- Strong organization and project‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously.
- A self‑starter mindset and the ability to take direction, ask the right questions, and independently move assigned work forward.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn unfamiliar or technical subject matter and find the human story within it.
- Comfort working in a fast‑moving, collaborative environment where priorities may shift around competition schedules, events, and organizational needs.
- Willingness to travel to Project MFG competitions and events as needed.
A portfolio or relevant work samples are required with your application.
We're interested in seeing work that demonstrates your ability to create and execute marketing across different channels. Examples may include social media content, graphic design, short‑form video, email campaigns, digital campaigns, event collateral, promotional materials, web content, or other relevant marketing work.
Your portfolio does not need to include every category. We're most interested in seeing how you think, create, and bring ideas to life.
Education
A four‑year degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field is preferred. Relevant professional experience and a strong portfolio may be considered in place of a specific degree.
