Job description

Digital Forensic Analyst

Employment Type: Full-Time, Mid-Level

Department: Forensics

CGS is seeking a Digital Forensic Analyst whose primary focus will be on the preservation & collection of mobile device and cloud-stored data. The candidate should be fluent in a broad range of forensic technologies and interested in taking a primary role in a quickly expanding forensics department. This position involves travel for on-site collection efforts and in-office work at the primary firm location, which includes the forensics lab and data center. Skills and Attributes for Success:
  1. Perform forensic data collection and basic forensic analysis both on-site and remotely.
  2. Coordinate with legal teams and client IT departments to understand project scope.
  3. Maintain forensic tool sets by staying current with updates and new options.
  4. Work closely with project management and team members on complex projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  5. Assist in developing, documenting, and refining procedures for discovery processes.
  6. Manage chain of custody practices in accordance with rules of evidence.
  7. Adhere to standard operating procedures consistently.
  8. Perform quality checks on work products before delivery.
  9. Complete additional duties as assigned by the manager, including general IT functions.
Qualifications:
  1. Undergraduate degree, preferably in Digital Forensic Science or Computer Science/Engineering.
  2. At least 1 year of relevant experience understanding the forensic lifecycle, evidence acquisition, and forensic analysis at an intermediate level.
  3. Experience with industry-standard forensic tools such as EnCase, Cellebrite, Oxygen, FTK Imager, MacQuisition, X1 Social Discovery, Logicube Falcon.
  4. Understanding of Mac/Windows filesystems, mobile devices, and encryption.
  5. Experience preserving data from desktops, laptops, mobile devices, servers, cloud and on-premise email, social media, etc., in a forensically sound manner.
  6. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with team members and clients.
  7. Willingness to work extended hours and travel as needed, with a valid passport for international travel.
  8. Self-starter capable of working independently and within a team.
  9. Ability to document forensic workflows following industry standards.
  10. Willingness to train others and develop secondary resources for larger collection events.
  11. Strong troubleshooting skills for complex problem-solving.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM).
  2. Industry certifications such as EnCE, CCE, GCFE, GCFA, etc.
  3. Knowledge of litigation support applications like Relativity, Nuix, LAW PreDiscovery.
  4. Experience analyzing structured data, scripting, and data manipulation.
  5. Familiarity with copy tools, scripting (PowerShell, etc.), and Active Directory.
  6. Skills in scripting, programming, and database languages (SQL, VB, HTML, Access).
