Job summary

FOX40 Sacramento, part of Nexstar, seeks a dynamic News Director to lead all aspects of KTXL FOX40 news in Sacramento. We require a people-first leader who hires and guides diverse teams to produce top-quality newscasts and drive digital-first engagement across platforms.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in breaking news, enterprise reporting, and developing talent while managing resources and budgets for a high-performing newsroom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mass Communications, Journalism or Broadcast preferred.
• Prefer at least 7 years' experience in newsroom management.
• Experience around breaking weather & news, major news, investigative and enterprise journalism.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute strategic plans to grow our audience.
• Supervise senior newsroom leadership and anchor talent.
• Provide strategic direction for day-to-day news coverage across all channels.
• Collaborate with team to operationalize research and grow diverse staff.
• Interview, hire and coach employees; manage budgets and resources.
