Job summary

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Digital Evidence Technician to respond to requests from federal, state, and local law enforcement and related agencies. The role focuses on collecting, preserving, and processing video evidence from devices and crime scenes while ensuring compliance with laws and agency policies.

The position requires strong attention to detail, ability to manage confidential information, and willingness to travel for evidence collection and training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or associate/bachelor’s degree in CS, forensic science, criminology, criminal justice, or related field.
• Ability to handle confidential information and public records requests.
• Experience with digital evidence handling and related procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect, preserve, and process video evidence from crime scenes and devices.
• Drive to off-site locations to collect and transport digital multimedia evidence.
• Support public records requests for digital evidence (BWC, CCTV).
• Review records for redaction and dissemination per policy and law.
• Coordinate with SAO and other agencies on viewing, reproduction, and release of digital evidence.
• Prepare supplementary reports and respond to subpoenas as needed.
