Job description

We're seeking a Digital Editor to join Retail TouchPoints, an online publishing network for retail executives focused on optimizing the customer experience across all channels. This role will help drive timely, relevant content coverage spanning retail strategy, customer experience, ecommerce, store operations, marketing, loyalty, merchandising, and retail technology.

Open to applicants who can work in the New York City, NY office at least 4 days a week.

Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Copywriting
  • Write and edit compelling digital special reports, articles, features, and newsletters across digital platforms
  • Develop copy engineered for audience engagement, click-through, and revenue support
  • Craft attention-grabbing headlines and social copy optimized for each platform
  • Integrate AI writing tools to enhance productivity and content quality
Newsletter Development
  • Own editorial newsletter production end-to-end: copy, subject lines, CTAs, and cadence
  • Curate and package content for varied newsletter formats and audience segments
  • Analyze performance metrics and iterate based on open rates, clicks, and engagement data
  • Manage production schedules and ensure on-time delivery
Social Media Content
  • Develop and schedule content across LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, and emerging platforms
  • Write social copy that drives traffic to owned channels and builds community
  • Monitor trends and move quickly on timely, relevant opportunities
  • Engage with audience comments and foster community interaction
  • Track performance and refine content mix based on what's working
Editorial Support
  • Assist editors with daily content operations and workflow management
  • Edit and proofread content from staff writers and freelancers
  • Ensure content meets quality standards, brand guidelines, and SEO best practices
  • Fact-check articles and verify sources for accuracy
  • Manage content in CMS and coordinate with production teams
Content Planning & Collaboration
  • Contribute to editorial calendar planning across digital channels
  • Pitch story ideas and content concepts aligned with audience interests and business goals
  • Collaborate with the events team to create promotional and recap content
  • Work with marketing and sales on content that supports lead generation
  • Coordinate with freelance contributors on assignments and deadlines
  • Attend retail industry events when required
Audience Engagement
  • Engage directly with retail executives, brand leaders, marketers, merchandisers, store operations professionals, ecommerce teams, and technology decision-makers to identify challenges and surface success stories
  • Monitor content performance metrics across digital channels
  • Identify trending topics and audience interests to inform content development
  • Optimize content for search engines and audience discovery
  • Support email marketing campaigns and promotional content initiatives
  • Contribute to strategies that grow audience and increase reader loyalty across platforms
  • Act as co-host on sponsored led webinars and podcasts
Qualifications
  • 3+ years in media, content marketing, or journalism with demonstrated writing and editing excellence
  • High proficiency in AP Style
  • Demonstrated experience owning newsletters and social content, not just contributing to them
  • Strong on-air presence and presentation skills a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in digital media, communications, English, marketing, or related field
  • Strong copywriting and editing skills across digital formats, SEO fundamentals, and familiarity with AI content tools
  • CMS proficiency, basic analytics interpretation, and comfort managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience reporting on business news and publicly traded companies required
  • Knowledge of the retail industry, including customer experience, ecommerce, store operations, marketing, merchandising, loyalty, or retail technology, is preferred
  • Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and a passion for content that serves both audience and business
Compensation & Benefits

Target Compensation: $70,000 - $78,000
