Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Digital Content Specialist leads and executes Mercy High School's digital footprint across social media, email marketing, and web platforms. This hybrid strategic and hands‑on role turns Mercy's marketing, admissions, advancement, and institutional priorities into compelling content that engages prospective students and families, current families, alumnae, donors, and the broader community. Working within established brand and marketing strategy, the Specialist is responsible for moving a high volume of communications from creative concept to publication. This role requires strong storytelling abilities, sharp visual standards, analytical insight, and the ability to balance everyday in‑house asset creation with strategic campaign planning.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Lead social media planning and execution across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.) to drive brand awareness, audience growth, and community engagement.
- Capture authentic photos and short‑form video at school events; design everyday graphics using Canva and brand templates.
- Maintain a consistent publishing cadence, manage day‑to‑day community engagement, and serve as a resource for internal sub-account managers.
- Track platform trends, monitor performance metrics, and use data‑driven insights to refine strategy and optimize future content.
- Design, write, proof, and send multi‑channel email campaigns, newsletters, and automated workflows supporting Admissions & Recruitment, Advancement, and general school communications.
- Manage email lists, segmentation, sender details, and links to ensure high delivery standards and targeted messaging.
- Analyze email metrics to continuously improve engagement and messaging effectiveness.
- Oversee regular updates, event listings, news, and ongoing content management on the Mercy High School website to ensure information is current, accurate, and engaging.
- Identify web content gaps, optimize landing pages, and improve overall user experience for key audiences across academic, athletic, and advancement pages.
- Monitor web traffic and user behavior to evaluate content performance and navigation flow.
- Serve as a brand steward, ensuring all digital channels strictly follow Mercy's brand voice, visual identity, digital media policies, and AP Style guidelines.
- Maintain a master editorial calendar coordinating social media, email, admissions events, fundraising initiative, and school milestones.
- Organize and maintain the digital asset library. Create polished in‑house content coordinating with outside creative partners for specialized projects.
- Work closely with Admissions, Advancement, faculty, staff, and students to gather stories, photos, and project inputs for upcoming campaigns.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field, OR equivalent demonstrated professional experience/portfolio (3+ years preferred).
- Hands‑on experience managing organizational social platforms, social analytics tools, and Content Management Systems (CMS, e.g., WordPress, Finalsite).
- Direct experience with email marketing tools (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or CRM email software) and segmentation strategies.
- Experience creating everyday assets in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, along with basic photo/video capture and editing skills (mobile creation or DSLR/CapCut/Final Cut Pro).
- Strong copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills with an understanding of brand voice and AP Style.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines and a high volume of recurring deliverables.
