The Digital Construction Coordinator is responsible for leveraging field capture technology, BIM, and digital modeling to enhance design coordination, project visualization, and construction planning. This role plays a critical part in aligning design intent with field execution by utilizing tools such as OpenSpace, BIM platforms, and logistics modeling. The position ensures accurate coordination between trades, improves issue detection, and supports proactive decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Functions:
- Lead BIM coordination efforts across all trades and BIM consultants, ensuring adherence to the BIM execution plan
- Facilitate coordination meetings among all trade partners and BIM consultants and drive issue resolution
- Manage coordination models across all platforms such as OpenSpace, Autodesk BIM 360, Navisworks, Procore Models, or similar tools
- Document coordination issues and develop RFIs within Procore and facilitate the resolution of coordination issues and conflicts.
- Manage coordination issue workflows.
Reality Capture & Plan Overlay Management
- Manage site capture workflows using OpenSpace or similar tools
- Overlay drone captures onto project plans to validate installation progress and identify discrepancies
- Compare as-built conditions to design models and drawings to proactively identify issues
- Support project teams in using capture data for QA/QC, progress tracking, and owner reporting
- Perform periodic reality capture to document site conditions, site progress and validate field conditions against design
Construction Logistics Modeling
- Collaborate with preconstruction, field team leads, general superintendent, and safety director to develop 3D/4D logistics and phasing models to support site planning, sequencing, and safety and ensure that logistics plans are practical and executable
- Create visualizations for crane picks, material staging, site access, and temporary works
- Identify and document potential logistics plan conflicts and coordinate resolution
Field & Office Integration
- Bridge the gap between field teams, design teams, and project management by translating model data into actionable insights
- Support superintendents and PMs with visual tools for planning and coordination
- Ensure field teams can easily access and interpret models and capture data
Technology & Process Optimization
- Standardize workflows for BIM coordination, site capture, and logistics modeling across projects
- Identify opportunities to improve coordination efficiency through better use of technology
- Assist in evaluating and implementing new VDC and reality capture tools
General
- o Maintain and develop professional and technical knowledge by attending educational conferences, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies, etc.
- o Satisfactory completion of appropriate corporate training as related to the position and/or department.
- o Perform cross functional duties as required.
