Job summary

Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking a Digital Communications Specialist to elevate our online presence and engage audiences. You will manage SRNL's external WordPress site, craft social content, and translate complex science into accessible digital content.

You’ll work collaboratively with scientists and engineers to optimize content, monitor analytics, and ensure accessibility and brand alignment across web, social, and email channels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, web development, digital media, marketing, journalism, information science, or related field.
• 3+ years managing and optimizing digital platforms with depth in WordPress and SharePoint.
• Experience creating, scheduling, and managing social media content across platforms.
• Strong writing ability for digital audiences and ability to explain complex topics clearly.
• Experience translating technical information for non-technical audiences.
• Ability to analyze web and social metrics and translate into actionable recommendations.
• Understanding of SEO, metadata standards, and structured content.
• Knowledge of UX principles and WCAG accessibility standards.
• Experience coordinating digital projects with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive digital strategy across web and social channels.
• Create, curate, and schedule engaging posts, graphics, and short-form videos.
• Collaborate with scientists and program managers to translate complex topics into accessible content.
• Monitor analytics and translate data into actionable recommendations for leadership.
• Maintain SRNL's external WordPress site with accessible, user-centered UX.
• Support intranet governance and content governance across IT and site owners.
• Ensure content meets brand, accessibility, and compliance standards.
