Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern CA Division is seeking a Communications Assistant to support the Center for Applied Research and Innovation (CARI). You will manage digital communications, maintain websites and social media, coordinate Innovation Lab operations, and assist with administrative and fundraising activities.

You’ll collaborate with researchers, partners, students, donors, and volunteers to ensure an engaging public presence and well-organized programs and events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate’s/bachelor’s preferred.
• Experience updating websites using Wix, WordPress, Squarespace or similar CMS.
• Experience managing social media platforms for an organization.
• Proficiency with Canva and Microsoft 365 apps.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Comfortable learning new technology platforms and tools.
• Experience coordinating meetings and maintaining project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the CARI website and social media content.
• Schedule and publish content across CARI’s social platforms.
• Monitor inquiries and route requests to the appropriate staff.
• Assist with digital communications and asset organization.
• Support Innovation Lab operations and office logistics.
• Assist with grants, fundraising activities, and donor communications.
