Job summary

North Sunflower Medical Center is seeking a Dietitian to provide comprehensive nutrition care for patients and residents. You will assess nutritional needs, develop and monitor care plans, and educate patients, families, and staff while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

This role emphasizes regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and the delivery of safe, effective nutritional care within a hospital and long-term care setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or related field is required.
  • 1–2 years of experience in an acute care and/or long-term care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct nutrition screenings and assessments to identify patients and residents at nutritional risk.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and revise individualized nutrition care plans.
  • Complete nutrition assessments, progress notes, consults, and related documentation within established timeframes.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and recommend adjustments to nutrition therapy as needed.
  • Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients, families, residents, caregivers, and community members as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient nutritional care needs.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, the healthcare team, and Food & Nutrition Services.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and evaluate food service operations to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with procurement and management of specialized medical foods and nutrition products.
  • Participate in committee activities and provide nutrition-related education to staff as needed.
  • Assist with development and review of nutrition policies, procedures, and diet manuals.
  • Support departmental operations, including staff training, scheduling, and performance feedback when assigned supervisory responsibilities.
  • Maintain professional licensure, confidentiality, regulatory compliance, and a high standard of customer service.

Job description

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or related field.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in an acute care and/or long-term care setting
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, and reach during the workday.
  • Ability to move throughout the facility and access patient medical records for documentation purposes.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
