Job summary

Miraval in Tucson seeks a Dietitian to educate guests, conduct nutrition classes, and provide one-on-one counseling to support balanced living.

You will collaborate with the culinary team to align menus with Miraval's philosophy, stay current on nutrition science, and help develop creative programming for guests. You will maintain confidentiality and integrate mindfulness in all guest interactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a US regionally accredited university.
• ACEND-accredited supervised practice program.
• Pass the national CDR examination.
• Maintain continuing professional education requirements.
• Additional certifications in renal nutrition, sports dietetics, or diabetes education are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and conduct nutrition classes.
• Conduct Resting Metabolic Rate and body composition testing.
• Provide one-on-one guest consultations.
• Stay current on nutrition information and science.
• Assist culinary staff in providing nutritionally balanced options.
• Analyze menu items for nutrients with the kitchen team.
• Communicate special food requests to culinary and F&B staff.
• Maintain complete confidentiality in all guest/program matters.
• Demonstrate mindfulness in all guest contact and programs.
• Attend to daily department maintenance and operations.
• Fulfill marketing requests (articles, blogs, etc.).
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Supervisor or Director of Programs.

The Dietitian provides high-quality service to guests through education lectures and one‑on‑one counseling. The Dietitian assists the culinary staff in presenting meals that comply with Miraval's food philosophy. The Dietitian is responsible for creating and adapting new, creative and progressive programming for Miraval guests, based on science and not trends.

Essential Functions

• Creates, adapts and conducts nutrition classes
• Conducts individual guest consultations
• Conducts Resting Metabolic Rate and Body Composition diagnostic testing
• Remains current on nutrition information and science
• Assists the culinary staff in providing nutritionally balanced food options
• Assists the Executive Chef and culinary staff in analyzing menu items for nutrients
• Communicates special food requests to culinary and food and beverage staff
• Maintains complete confidentiality in all guest/program matters in accordance with Miraval policy
• Demonstrates and incorporates mindfulness in all guest contact, programs, experiences and written materials
• Attends to daily maintenance and operations of the department
• Fulfills marketing requests (ie: article requests, blog posts, etc.)
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Supervisor or Director of Programs

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

• Completed a minimum of a bachelor's degree at a US regionally accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Completed an ACEND‑accredited supervised practice program at a health‑care facility, community agency, or a foodservice corporation or combined with undergraduate or graduate studies. Typically, a practice program will run six to 12 months in length.
• Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Completed continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration.
• Additional certifications in specialized areas of practice a plus: renal nutrition, sports dietetics, and nutrition support and diabetes education.
