Job summary

Meals on Wheels People seeks a Dietitian to design customized nutrition plans, develop MTM education, and collaborate with culinary staff to deliver healthy, diverse meals for older adults. The role requires a Master’s level in nutrition with RDN credentials and is part-time and contract-based through September 2027, with travel across Multnomah, Washington, and Clark counties.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in dietetics, program development experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in nutrition-related field.
• RDN credential and the ability to practice in OR/WA.
• Knowledge of geriatric nutrition and risk assessment.
• 2–3 years in professional dietetics with menu planning.
• Experience creating nutrition education tools and programs.
• Proficiency with nutrition software and MS Office.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team player.
• Bilingual/bicultural experience preferred; fluency bonus option.

Responsibilities

• Use Nutrition Care Process to assess MTM clients and provide medical nutrition therapy.
• Develop and deliver nutrition education materials for home-delivered meals.
• Present in-person at senior centers and community locations.
• Support grant projects; track and report outcome data.
• Incorporate Food is Medicine research into content.
• Create culturally responsive menus in line with contracts.
• Analyze menus to ensure contract compliance.
• Advise on trends and innovative nutrition solutions.
• Ensure menus and data accuracy in databases.
• Guide program locations on food products, prep, and presentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This is a part-time, contract-based position that will run through September 2027.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesUtilize the Nutrition Care Process to assess Medically Tailored Meal (MTM) clients and provide medical nutrition therapy to MTM contract clients.Develop and deliver nutrition education and training materials for home-delivered meal clients and provide in-person presentations at senior centers and other community locations.Develop and provide nutrition education that addresses the unique nutritional needs of older adults, including specialized materials for MTM clients.Support grant-funded projects and track, manage, and report outcome data related to these initiatives.Stay current on Food is Medicine research and incorporate relevant findings into presentations, educational materials, and program content.Develop culturally responsive menus that comply with contract requirements.Conduct nutritional analysis of menus for all nutrition program meals to ensure compliance with contract requirements.Provide guidance on emerging nutrition trends and innovative solutions to meet the nutritional needs of clients.Ensure the accuracy of menus and nutrition analysis data within designated databases.Provide guidance and support to program locations regarding food products, preparation methods, and presentation techniques.Perform other duties as assigned.Education & KnowledgeMaster’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or a related field required; MS or MPH preferred.Current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential and licensure/eligibility to practice in Oregon and Washington.Knowledge of geriatric nutrition and nutritional risk assessment for older adults.Skills, Abilities & Experience2-3 years of professional dietetics experience, including demonstrated success in menu planning and nutrition program development.Experience developing nutrition education tools and programs focused on health promotion, disease prevention, and disease management.Proficiency with nutrition analysis software, Microsoft Office Suite, client management systems, and other web-based applications.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and engage diverse populations.Passion for serving older adults and supporting the health and well-being of seniors in the community.Bilingual and/or bicultural experience preferred. Successfully passing a fluency exam in another language qualifies candidates an extra $1 per hour pay rate.Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.Working Conditions/Physical DemandsSignificant people interaction.Must be able to travel to all Meals on Wheels People service areas in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties. Additional travel to further areas of Oregon and Washington may be required.
