Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics with internship or equivalent for CDR eligibility.
• Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Registered Dietitian or eligibility; registration must be obtained within 6 months.
• CDN with New York State must be obtained within 1st year of employment.
• Active membership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and nutrition education to patients.
• Identify patients at nutrition risk and assess nutrient requirements by age and disease-specific needs.
• Develop and implement nutrition care plans for all assigned patients.
• Continuously evaluate and monitor the effectiveness and outcomes of MNT intervention.

Summary

Collaborates with members of the health care team to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and nutrition education to patients. Identifies patients at nutrition risk and assesses nutrient requirements according to age and disease specific needs. Develops and implements nutrition care plans for all assigned patients. Continuously evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of MNT intervention.

Education

• BS Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics plus internship or other education to meet requirements for registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
• Registration with the CDR
• Registered Dietitian or registration eligible. Registration must be obtained within 6 months of employment
• Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CDN) with New York State to obtained within 1st year of employment
• Active membership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred

Experience

• 1 year experience preferred

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

• Must possess or have ability to learn basic computer skills
