Job summary

Henry Ford Health, based in Detroit, seeks a Kidney Transplant Dietitian for St. John Hospital. You will assess and counsel transplant candidates, perform nutrition assessments, and provide dietetic interventions across the transplant journey.

Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll monitor patient progress, participate in CMS-required pre-, intra-, and post-transplant care, and share nutrition information with the community through outreach and publications.

Qualifications

• Dietitian credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.
• 2+ years' experience preferred.
• Previous renal, bariatric, or diabetes experience preferred.
• ALS or Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred; BLS provider preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess kidney transplant candidates; counsel on nutrition.
• Assess nutritional status and eligibility for transplant.
• Deliver dietetic interventions across pre-, intra-, and post-transplant phases.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing and ancillary services.
• Monitor tolerance and adjust regimens; provide community nutrition education.

Department: Kidney Transplant

What You Will Do

• Kidney transplant patient assessment and counseling
• Assesses patients for nutritional status to determine if they qualify for organ transplant.
• Provides interventions/treatments throughout patients transplant journey including diet assessment, weight loss advising, diabetes education and food hygiene practices.
• All potential transplant recipients are required by CMS to be seen by a transplant dietitian in the pre-transplant, hospital, and post-transplant phases of the transplant process.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and ancillary services.
• Monitor patient tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional regimens, recommending adjustments as needed.
• Provide nutrition information to the community through public speaking, news releases, and publications.
• Research and resolve nutrition care-related complaints and problems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Previous renal, bariatric, or diabetes experience preferred
• 2+ years' experience preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENCES REQUIRED

• Dietitian credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association
• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association
