Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit is seeking a transplant dietitian to support the kidney transplant program. The role focuses on patient assessment, counseling, and nutrition interventions across pre-, intra-, and post-transplant care.

You will collaborate with physicians and nursing staff, monitor nutrition plans, and contribute to community education and CMS-compliant practices. A Bachelor's in Dietetics and renal-related experience help success.

Qualifications

• BS in Dietetics required.
• 2+ years experience preferred.
• Previous renal, bariatric, or diabetes experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Kidney transplant patient assessment and counseling.
• Assesses patients for nutritional status to determine if they qualify for organ transplant.
• Provides interventions/treatments throughout patients transplant journey including diet assessment, weight loss advising, diabetes education and food hygiene practices.
• All potential transplant recipients are required by CMS to be seen by a transplant dietitian in the pre-transplant, hospital, and post-transplant phases of the transplant process.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and ancillary services.
• Monitor patient tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional regimens, recommending adjustments as needed.
• Provide nutrition information to the community through public speaking, news releases, and publications.
• Research and resolve nutrition care-related complaints and problems.

Location: St. John Hospital - Detroit

Department: Kidney Transplant

Schedule: 40 hrs/week, EXEMPT, 7:30am-4:00pm, no weekends, no holidays

What You Will Do

• Kidney transplant patient assessment and counseling
• Assesses patients for nutritional status to determine if they qualify for organ transplant.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Previous renal, bariatric, or diabetes experience preferred
• Bachelors in Dietetics
• 2+ years' experience preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENCES REQUIRED

• Dietitian credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association
• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association
