Job summary

Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) in Towson, MD, seeks a registered dietitian to provide nutritional services to inpatients and outpatients, educate staff and the community on diabetes management, and plan therapeutic diets in line with physician diagnoses and regulatory requirements.

The position requires five years of RD experience and two years in direct diabetes education, Maryland licensure with CDR, and willingness to obtain Diabetes Educator certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition from an accredited college or university.
• Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed with the State of Maryland; CEU requirements.
• Certification as a Diabetes Educator preferred; willing to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Five years of experience as a registered dietitian.
• Two years of experience in direct diabetes education and care.

Responsibilities

• Provides nutritional services to inpatients and outpatients.
• Educates staff and community on diabetes management.
• Plans therapeutic diets in accordance with physician diagnoses and regulatory requirements.
• Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team to implement nutrition care plans.

Job description

Under general supervision, provides nutritional services to inpatients and outpatients. Educates staff and community on diabetes management. Plans therapeutic diets in accordance with physician's diagnoses and requirements of regulatory agencies. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team to implement nutrition care plans.

This position is scheduled for 32 hours per week.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition from an accredited college or university.

Licensure:

• Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed with the State of Maryland. Work requires successful completion of 15 American Dietetic Association accredited CEUs in previous year.
• Maintain Registration through the Commission on Dietetics and Licensure through the State of Maryland.
• Certification as a Diabetes Educator preferred; a willingness to obtain certification within 12 months of date of hire required.

Experience:

• Five years of experience as a registered dietitian.
• Two years of experience in direct diabetes education and care.

Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of nutrition theory and practice, standards of care for treatment of diabetes, and standards of care for diabetes self-management.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Advanced analytical skills for assessing patient's needs and developing appropriate and targeted treatment approaches.
• Counseling and group instruction skills.
• Skill in data analysis and interpretation of research material.
• Ability to exercise independent thought, judgment, decision-making and flexibility.

• Employee has knowledge and understanding of patient and workforce safety as it relates to job duties.

Patient Population:

• Demonstrates competency in the delivery of care and applies the knowledge to meet age-specific needs if applicable.

Pay Range

$58,488.99 - $93,582.39
