Job summary

Valor Healthcare is seeking a Dietitian to join the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Danville, VA on a part-time basis. The role includes providing prescribed medical nutrition therapy and collaborating with the PACT Team to develop patient care plans.

Responsibilities include educating patients, planning diets, conducting nutrition education classes, and maintaining EMR records in VISTA/CPRS. The ideal candidate has a master's degree in nutrition and VA credentialing.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nutrition from an accredited school.
  • Valid, unrestricted license in the state of employment or VA contract requirements.
  • Two years' experience with adult patients preferred.
  • Credentialed and in good standing with the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
  • Current BLS certification (and ACLS as required)
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong computer skills, including EMR experience.

Responsibilities

  • Educate patients on how to select food to maintain and promote health.
  • Plan appropriate diets and menus to meet the needs of individuals.
  • Conduct nutrition education classes.
  • Serve as a community resource to patients.
  • Create in-house nutrition education materials for staff and patients.
  • Provide information to staff using nutrition education materials.
  • Monitor and respond to phone and e-mail messages.
  • Input patient information into VISTA/CPRS.
  • Complete clinical reminders at the time of each visit.
  • Assist in co-managed care with VA providers and facilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of veterans’ data.
  • Comply with VA and company training requirements.
  • Fulfill compliance requirements (OIG, JC, EOC).
  • Remain focused on achieving excellent clinical outcomes per VA guidelines.
  • Provide excellent customer service to veterans and families.

Valor Healthcare is looking for a passionate Dietitian to join our team at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Danville, VA.

Part-time, two days/week, 16 hours/week.

As a Dietitian, you will provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients with diseases and injuries seeking treatment in the clinic, as directed by physician or mid-level provider. You will collaborate with the core PACT Team (Primary Care Provider, RN and Medical Assistant) and expanded PACT Team including family/caregiver, VA, and community-based services involved in developing the patient care plan.

Core Responsibilities
  • Educate patients on how to select food to maintain and promote health as well as to prevent illness and disease.
  • Plan appropriate diets and menus to meet the needs of individuals whose medical condition can be treated or controlled using diet therapy.
  • Conduct nutrition education classes.
  • Serve as a community resource to patients.
  • Create in house nutrition education materials for use in nutrition education of staff and patients.
  • Provide information and education to staff members using nutrition education materials, or in- service/meetings per request.
  • Monitor and respond to phone and e-mail messages promptly.
  • Inputs all patients’ information into VISTA/CPRS.
  • Completes any and all clinical reminders “due” at the time of each patient visit.
  • Assists in co-managed care collaboration with non-VA providers, and facilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality of veterans’ data and information.
  • Complies with all VA and company training requirements.
  • Fulfill compliance requirements of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Joint Commission(JC), Environment of Care (EOC) oversight, lab compliance and other related items.
  • Remain focused on achieving excellent clinical outcomes through the specified VA guidelines.
  • Must provide excellent customer service to each veteran and his/her family, both in person and over the phone, as well as to fellow colleagues and clinic visitors.
  • Participate in the clinic’s outreach events to help support the clinic’s enrollment initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nutrition from an accredited school
  • Must comply with and maintain all requirements for a valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired employment, or in any U.S. state or territory, depending on VA contractual requirements.
  • Two (2) years' experience with adult patients preferred. Specific requirements could vary based on individual VA contract.
  • Must be credentialed and remain in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (must be renewed periodically as specified by the certifying agency – AHA valid for two years, e.g.) and in ACLS as specified by individual VAMC contract
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong computer skills, including EMR experience
