Job Overview:

As a member of the healthcare team, you will be responsible for the nutritional care of assigned pediatric populations with assistance from clinical orienters and supervision. Responsibilities include nutrition assessment, implementation of nutritional care plans, and nutrition education. You will also assist with operational functions of the Clinical Nutrition Department.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited college or university
  • Registered dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Eligible (RDE) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • If RDE, must become RD within six months of hire
  • Valid NJ driver's license in good standing
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others

Preferred:

  • Completion of Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) curriculum
  • Medical Assistant certification

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Registered dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Eligible (RDE); must obtain RD within six months if RDE
  • Valid NJ driver's license in good standing
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time

Essential Functions:

  • Utilize understanding of diagnoses and medical history to provide nutritional care for patients
  • Evaluate nutritional status, create, implement, monitor, and revise nutritional care plans, and provide nutrition education
  • Complete nutritional assessments thoroughly and promptly as per policies
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff in oral and written formats
  • Participate in nutritional in-services and community education programs
  • Develop and evaluate educational materials for nutrition education and professional resources
  • Coordinate nutritional care with relevant departments
  • Contribute to the development and revision of departmental policies and procedures
  • Participate in routine departmental duties and quality improvement activities
  • Potentially guide Dietetic Technicians and mentor students/interns
  • Meet minimum annual volume expectations
