Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nutrition required.
3 years nutrition experience preferred, with emphasis on weight management and counseling.
Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Serve Safe Certification required.

Responsibilities

Deliver nutrition care using the Nutrition Care Process across patient populations.
Conduct nutrition assessments and develop customized care plans.
Identify clinical risk factors and develop targeted diagnoses and interventions.
Document assessment data and progress in the EMR.
Provide nutrition counseling to patients and families, considering cultural factors.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and mentor Dietetic Students.

A Typical Day

Utilizing the Nutrition Care Process and Evidence-Based Practice Guidelines to deliver comprehensive nutrition care across various patient populations.
Completing clinical nutrition assessments, physical assessments, and customized care plans in accordance with department standards.
Identifying clinical risk factors such as Protein Calorie Malnutrition and developing targeted nutrition diagnoses and interventions.
Calculating complex nutrient intake studies, enteral tube feeding formulas, and parenteral nutrition formulas to ensure optimal patient support.
Documenting comprehensive assessment data, diagnoses, care plans, and patient progress notes efficiently within the electronic medical record (EMR).
Assessing educational needs and providing tailored nutrition counseling to patients and families, accounting for cultural, ethnic, and religious factors.
Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and providing clinical guidance to Menu Technicians and Food Service staff to maintain seamless operations.
Serving as a preceptor and mentor for Dietetic Students, supervising educational experiences, and supporting the orientation of new team members.

To Be Considered

Education: Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Nutrition
Experience: Preferred 3 years experience in nutrition and nutritional counseling with an emphasis in weight management and nutrition
Certification/Licensure: Registered with the Commission on Dietitian Registration
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Serve Safe Certification
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Bi-lingual (Spanish/English), CPR certification, Culinary experience, Gardening experience
Scheduling Requirements: FT, Primarily day shift (but evenings and weekends are necessary). This position is based out of the RWJ Fitness & Wellness Center, NJ, deploying to community locations in Mercer and other surrounding counties as the programming schedule dictates
