RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Registered Dietitian to join the Dietitians department in Union, NJ. The role involves delivering evidence-based nutrition care across diverse patient populations as part of a collaborative healthcare team.

The successful candidate will use the Nutrition Care Process to develop individualized care plans, perform clinical assessments, and provide education to patients and families in a per diem, day-shift capacity at the Children’s Specialized Hospital site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics required.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• AHA/BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the Nutrition Care Process to deliver nutrition care across patient populations.
• Complete clinical nutrition assessments, physical assessments, and customized care plans.
• Identify risk factors such as protein-calorie malnutrition and develop diagnoses and interventions.
• Calculate complex nutrient intakes and formulas for patient support.
• Document assessment data, diagnoses, and progress in the EMR.
• Provide nutrition counseling considering cultural, ethnic, and religious factors.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and mentor Dietetic Students.
• Precept and orient new team members.

A Typical Day

• Utilising the Nutrition Care Process and Evidence‑Based Practice Guidelines to deliver comprehensive nutrition care across various patient populations.
• Completing clinical nutrition assessments, physical assessments, and customized care plans in accordance with department standards.
• Identifying clinical risk factors such as Protein Calorie Malnutrition and developing targeted nutrition diagnoses and interventions.
• Calculating complex nutrient intake studies, enteral tube feeding formulas, and parenteral nutrition formulas to ensure optimal patient support.
• Documenting comprehensive assessment data, diagnoses, care plans, and patient progress notes efficiently within the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Assessing educational needs and providing tailored nutrition counseling to patients and families, accounting for cultural, ethnic, and religious factors.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and providing clinical guidance to Menu Technicians and Food Service staff to maintain seamless operations.
• Serving as a preceptor and mentor for Dietetic Students, supervising educational experiences, and supporting the orientation of new team members.

To Be Considered

• Required Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics.
• Required Licensure/Credential: Must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. If RDE, must become RD within six months of hire date
• American Heart Association, AHA, BLS Provider Certification required
• Core Competencies: Strong baseline of interpersonal communication skills, proficiency with electronic patient medical records, and ability to calculate complex nutritional formulas.
• License: Valid NJ driver s license in good standing
