RWJBarnabas Health’s RWJUH Somerset is seeking a Registered Dietitian to join the Dietary-Management team. The role involves delivering evidence-based nutrition care to inpatients within the Eating Disorder Program in Somerset, NJ, using a weight-inclusive Health at Every Size approach.

The day-to-day includes individual nutrition therapy, group counseling, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. You’ll precept Dietetic Students and mentor new staff while maintaining high-quality care

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics is required.
• Must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• 2 years in clinical dietetics in acute care preferred; 1 year with eating disorders preferred.
• Strong interpersonal communication, proficiency with electronic medical records, and ability to calculate complex nutrition formulas.
• CEDRD certification preferred.
• Full-time, day shift with weekend rotation and some holidays.

Responsabilidades

• Provide individual nutrition therapy/education, group counseling/education and participate in multidisciplinary treatment plans.
• Coordinate with Nutrition Coordinator to train non-RD staff on nutrition-related topics and meal monitoring.
• Use the Nutrition Care Process and Evidence-Based Practice Guidelines to deliver comprehensive nutrition care for diverse patient populations.
• Complete clinical nutrition assessments, physical assessments, and create customized care plans per department standards.
• Identify clinical risk factors, develop nutrition diagnoses, and implement targeted interventions.
• Calculate complex nutrient intake studies, Enteral and Parenteral nutrition formulas to support patients.
• Document assessment data, diagnoses, care plans, and progress notes in the EMR.
• Assess educational needs and provide tailored nutrition counseling considering cultural/ethnic/religious factors.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and provide guidance to Menu Technicians and Food Service staff to maintain operations.
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor for Dietetic Students and support orientation of new staff.

Summary:

The RWJ Eating Disorder Program at Somerset, New Jersey, is nationally recognized and provides treatment for individuals aged 14 and older with conditions such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and ARFID. The program addresses both the physical and psychological aspects of eating disorders, emphasizing recovery through a combination of medical, psychiatric, nutritional, and therapeutic support. In this position you will participate as part of the multidisciplinary care team by providing evidence-based nutrition care and medical nutrition therapy to inpatients using an all foods fit, weight inclusive Health at Every Size approach.

A typical day as a Registered Dietician may look like:

• Provide individual nutrition therapy/education, group counseling/education and participate in the development of multidisciplinary treatment plans
• Participate with Nutrition Coordinator to provide nutrition-related and/or meal monitoring training to non-RD staff
• Utilizing the Nutrition Care Process and Evidence-Based Practice Guidelines to deliver comprehensive nutrition care across various patient populations.
• Completing clinical nutrition assessments, physical assessments, and customized care plans in accordance with department standards.
• Identifying clinical risk factors such as Protein Calorie Malnutrition and developing targeted nutrition diagnoses and interventions.
• Calculating complex nutrient intake studies, enteral tube feeding formulas, and parenteral nutrition formulas to ensure optimal patient support.
• Documenting comprehensive assessment data, diagnoses, care plans, and patient progress notes efficiently within the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Assessing educational needs and providing tailored nutrition counseling to patients and families, accounting for cultural, ethnic, and religious factors.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and providing clinical guidance to Menu Technicians and Food Service staff to maintain seamless operations.
• Serving as a preceptor and mentor for Dietetic Students, supervising educational experiences, and supporting the orientation of new team members.
