Summary of Job Duties: Position is considered Essential Personnel

The Dietetic Technician is responsible for daily routines and functions to ensure all patients receive meals in a timely manner and that the meals meet Physician orders and patient preferences. The Dietetic Technician Level I assists in planning and implementing nutritional programs and services in the hospital.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • High School diploma/GED plus 2 years of experience in customer service.
  • Team-oriented with excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work during Inclement Weather.
  • Ability to work rotating Weekends and Holidays.

Preferred:

  • Experience in food service or patient care setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting patients and ensuring they receive meals and nourishments according to diet orders and food allergens.
  • Seeking food orders from patients who cannot call or need language assistance.
  • Taking food orders accurately at the bedside with IPads.
  • Updating patient information and recording it in the electronic medical record.
  • Serving trays timely and accurately, identifying patients with two identifiers.
  • Addressing issues at the point of service to maintain patient satisfaction.
  • Responding to patient requests and retrieving trays after meals.
  • Preparing beverages and stocking supplies.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area.
  • Providing courteous service and demonstrating professionalism and integrity.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
