Job summary

Moorings Park is seeking a dedicated Dietetic Technician to support the Registered Dietitian in providing quality nutrition care to residents in a skilled nursing facility. Under supervision, you will assist with screenings, assessments, meal service monitoring, diet education, documentation, and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with nursing, food service, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, individualized nutrition care aligned with physician orders and federal/state

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Experience documenting nutrition care in an EMR system.
• Associate degree in Dietetic Technology or closely related field required.

Responsibilities

• Assist RD with nutrition screenings, assessments, and resident follow-up.
• Monitor residents' intake and weight; report concerns to RD.
• Document nutrition information accurately in the EMR.
• Conduct meal rounds and ensure diets are correct; provide nutrition education as directed.
• Communicate with nursing, dietary, and interdisciplinary teams regarding residents' needs.
• Assist with care planning, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance for nutrition services.
• Help ensure compliance with food safety, CMS/state regulations, and facility policies.

Position Summary

Moorings Park is seeking a dedicated Dietetic Technician to join our team. The Dietetic Technician supports the Registered Dietitian in providing quality nutritional care to residents in a skilled nursing facility. Under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian, the Diet Technician assists with nutrition screenings, resident assessments, meal service monitoring, diet education, documentation, and regulatory compliance. This position works collaboratively with nursing, food service, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure residents receive safe, appropriate, and individualized nutrition care that meets physician orders, facility policies, and federal and state regulations.

Key Contributions

• Assists the Registered Dietitian with nutrition screenings, assessments, and resident follow-up.
• Monitors residents' food and fluid intake, weight changes, and report nutrition concerns to the Registered Dietitian.
• Documents nutrition-related information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Conducts meal rounds to ensure residents receive the correct diet and monitor meal acceptance.Provides basic nutrition education to residents, families, and staff under the direction of the Registered Dietitian.
• Communicates with nursing, dietary staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team regarding residents' nutritional needs.
• Assists with care planning, quality improvement activities, and regulatory compliance related to nutrition services.
• Helps ensure compliance with food safety, infection control, CMS, state regulations, and facility policies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required.
• During emergencies or natural disasters, may be required to remain on duty for the duration of the event.
• Associate degree in Dietetic Technology, Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, or a closely related field required.
• Registered Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
• Food Handler Certification or ServSafe® Food Handler certification required
• Current CPR certification (required)
• One (1) year of experience in healthcare, long-term care, skilled nursing, hospital food service, or clinical nutrition preferred.
• Experience working with elderly or medically complex populations is preferred.
