U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Dayton VAMC is seeking a Health Technician (Dietetic) in the Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) to provide administrative and customer service support for the hospital food service program.

The role requires knowledge of nutrition, diet orders, and basic computer systems. Shifts vary, with availability for early morning hours, and the incumbent will work in a hospital setting with direct patient interaction.

Qualifications

1 year of specialized experience in quantity food service operations.
Education may substitute for the required experience with a bachelor's in nutrition or related field.
Combination of education and experience is allowed with appropriate coursework.

Responsibilities

Enter and retrieve basic information using a computer.
Use dietetic software to retrieve diet orders, recipes, and inventory data.
Provide professional customer service and triage calls from customers and patients.
Interpret diet activity and orders to ensure appropriate meals for patients.
Verify physician orders for unusual diets or modified nutrition plans.
Assist with food selections to ensure suitability of menus for complex diets.
Answer telephone calls with proper business etiquette.
Communicate effectively in person and by phone.
