Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a Dietetic Assistant for Trayline and Patient Meal Delivery. The role delivers meals, assists with tray prep, and ensures sanitary standards and patient satisfaction in Nutrition and Food Services.

Expect active engagement with patients and coordination with staff to maintain efficient meal service. The position requires ~95% mobility within a hospital setting, with 12 hours weekly on-site work in a per diem schedule, paying between $18.00 and $24.66 per hour,

Qualifications

• One year of experience with food service or customer service OR hospital clinical dietetics.
• If Bachelor's degree, no experience is required.
• If Associate's degree, six months of experience with food service or customer service OR hospital clinical dietetics

Responsibilities

• Delivers food trays, nourishments, and snack to patients in a timely manner.
• Assists with tray preparation during meal service hours.
• Adheres to all safety, sanitation, health, and privacy standards required by the department.
• Carries items from storeroom and coolers to workstations, and transfers food and equipment items to appropriate storage areas.
• Communicates with patients regarding meal tickets, accuracy, and other relevant information
• Maintains compliance with JCAHO, State Health Department, and OSHA regarding on-going required job training and health standards.
• Uses proper protocol, including wearing required PPE and hand sanitation, to prevent contamination.
• Maintains clean work areas and equipment utilized during shift.
• Aids in dirty tray removal and retrieval, as needed.
• Performs quality assurance activities, such as monitoring satisfaction surveys.
• Maintains a professional demeanor when interacting with all patients, visitors, and staff.

Dietetic Assistant – Trayline and Patient Meal Delivery

Summary

This position works to ensure that patients receive accurate, efficient, and satisfactory delivery of meals and other nutrition. Will be direct liaison, in regards to patient satisfaction, in the Nutrition and Food Services department. This position also assists higher-level personnel in preparing and maintaining a clean work area. Work is routinely reviewed for adherence to sanitary standards and completion of assignments.

Preferences

• Current ServSafe certification
• Previous experience in similar roles or in a hospital setting
• Please also note that this position requires approximately 95% of the workday to be spent walking and moving throughout the facility, so prefer candidates that are prepared for a highly active role and able to meet the physical demands of the position.
