Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have at least one year of supervisory experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or related medical facility; certification as food service manager preferred.
• Training in cost control, food management, and diet therapy is required.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and the public.
• Knowledge of dietary practices and regulations governing dietary functions in long-term care.
• Strong leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and manage daily operations of the dietary department and its programs.
• Coordinate dietary services with nursing, activities, housekeeping and other departments.
• Develop and maintain written dietary policies and procedures.
• Perform administrative duties to control equipment and supplies, including forms and reports.
• Assist in budgeting for food, equipment, supplies and labor and present to the Administrator.
• Review and implement plans of correction for dietary deficiencies noted during surveys.
