Summary:

Supervises the operation of Dietary Services while working closely with the Registered Dietician to provide quality nutritional care. The Dietary Services Manager ensures food safety and is responsible for the implementation of menus, foodservice purchasing, and food preparation. They apply nutrition principles, document nutrition information, and manage work teams.

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Licenses/Certification:

Serv Safe

Experience:

Three years of experience in Dietary Management and operations, one of which was in a long-term care environment.

Essential Functions:

1. Provides training, direction, and guidance for the dietary staff.
2. Participates in the hiring, disciplining, and evaluation of dietary employees.
3. Schedules and supervises the cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
4. Ensures that adequate stocks of appropriate food are available and maintains an accurate inventory.
5. Participates in facility “Performance Improvement Program.”
6. Orders supplies, checks shipments, and conducts inventories.
7. Monitors supply usage for appropriateness and efficiency.
8. Prepares work schedules and maintains adequate staffing.
9. Participates in the predicting, planning, monitoring, and evaluating of cost programs as assigned.
10. Responsible for the completion of dietary documentation, patient histories, and food preferences.
11. Works closely with Nursing staff to ensure that proper dietary needs are being recorded, addressed, and delivered.
12. Performs other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

1. Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce.
2. Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization.
3. Knowledge of infection control techniques.
4. Knowledge of commercial food service equipment operation.
