Job description

The overall purpose of the Dietary Manager position is to manage the preparation of meals and snacks for residents within facility guidelines. The Dietary Manager should be dependable, self-sufficient, and capable of multitasking.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Recruit, select, train, supervise, and retain qualified staff for the dietary department.
• Maintain staff schedules and work assignments.
• Supervise preparation and service of menus, nourishments, and supplements according to policies and regulations.
• Ensure proper receipt, storage, preparation, and serving of food.
• Ensure staff compliance with sanitation policies and regulations.
• Conduct routine in-services for staff.
• Purchase dietary supplies within budget, using approved vendors.
• Maintain accurate financial records.
• Audit dietary practices regularly to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

• Be a clinically qualified dietitian or other qualified nutrition professional (bachelor’s degree in nutrition or dietetics, with 900 hours supervised dietetic practice).
• Hold a Certified Dietary Manager, food service manager certification, or equivalent, or have an associate degree in food service management or hospitality.

Additional Criteria:

• At least one year of food service supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
