Position summary
The Dietary Manager is a key leadership role responsible for the successful operation of Dining Services. This includes preparing meals and managing the department's operations, such as staffing, food ordering, menu planning, food delivery, sanitation, and compliance with health regulations. The Director ensures client and customer satisfaction through efficient, cost-effective management, and helps maintain a positive environment for residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assign duties to all food service employees, maintaining full accountability for dining services.
- Ensure equipment maintenance and that work areas are clean, safe, and organized.
- Adhere to procedures regarding infection control, food safety, chemical handling, fire safety, and sanitation, addressing any noncompliance promptly.
- Maintain food costs within budget and control inventory strictly.
- Use independent judgment and discretion in decision-making.
- Interview, recommend hiring, and orient new staff.
- Create and adjust staff schedules, considering employee requests and operational needs.
- Track attendance and enforce disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Communicate and enforce policies on employee conduct, safety, sanitation, and HR matters, including disciplinary procedures.
- Evaluate staff performance and recommend employment adjustments as needed.
- Conduct quarterly dietary QA audits.
- Plan community and individual resident menus in coordination with healthcare providers and staff, including special events.
- Ensure meals are prepared according to recipes, presented attractively, and meet nutritional standards, including special dietary needs.
- Maintain proper storage, defrosting, and preparation of food following safety procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents, visitors, and staff.
- Perform duties courteously and professionally, prioritizing resident safety and satisfaction.
- Greet visitors and answer phones professionally.
- Ensure compliance with residents' rights and all regulations.
- Ensure all employees attend required trainings and provide in-service sessions when needed.
- Attend training sessions as directed by supervisors.
