Brief Description
The Dietary Manager is a key leadership position responsible for the successful operation of Dining Services. The role includes preparing meals, managing staffing, food ordering and accountability, menu planning, food delivery, and sanitation, in accordance with health regulations. The Director ensures client satisfaction with efficient, cost-effective management, and helps maintain a positive environment for residents.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Supervise, assign duties, and direct all food service department employees, with full accountability.
  2. Maintain equipment and work areas, adhere to safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures, and manage food costs and inventory.
  3. Exercise independent judgment and discretion.
  4. Interview, recommend hires, and orient new staff.
  5. Create and adjust staff schedules, considering employee requests and operational needs.
  6. Track attendance and manage disciplinary actions appropriately.
  7. Enforce policies on employee conduct, safety, sanitation, and discipline, and recommend corrective actions.
  8. Evaluate employee performance and recommend employment changes.
  9. Conduct quarterly dietary QA audits.
  10. Plan menus in coordination with medical staff and order special diets as needed.
  11. Ensure meals are prepared according to recipes, are nutritious and appealing, and are served safely and hygienically.
  12. Provide excellent customer service to residents and staff.
  13. Perform duties courteously and professionally, prioritizing resident safety and satisfaction.
  14. Greet visitors and ensure compliance with residents’ rights and regulations.
  15. Ensure staff attend required training and provide in-service education as needed.
  16. Participate in training sessions as directed.
