Job summary

Highland Chateau Health and Rehabilitation Center in Saint Paul, MN, is seeking a Full-Time Dietary Director to lead the Dietary Department and ensure nutritious, appealing meals that meet residents' dietary needs.

Qualifications

Highland Chateau Health and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Full-Time Dietary Director to lead our Dietary Department. The Dietary Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food service operations and ensuring our residents receive nutritious, appealing meals that meet their individual dietary needs and preferences. This position plays an important role in supporting resident satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and the overall quality of care provided at Highland.

Responsibilities of the Dietary Director:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Dietary Department, ensuring efficient and high-quality food service.

  • Develop and implement menus that meet residents' nutritional needs, physician orders, and special dietary requirements.

  • Coordinate meal preparation and service while ensuring food is safe, appealing, and served according to established standards.

  • Order food, supplies, and equipment while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.

  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise dietary staff, including cooks and dietary aides.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local food safety, sanitation, and infection control requirements.

  • Monitor food quality, sanitation, kitchen cleanliness, and proper food handling practices.

  • Manage the Dietary Department budget and identify opportunities to control costs while maintaining quality.

  • Work closely with nursing, rehabilitation, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to meet residents' nutritional and dining needs.

  • Respond to resident and family concerns and promote a positive dining experience for all residents.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in surveys, audits, and quality improvement initiatives as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Previous long-term care and/or dietary management experience preferred.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, staff, and interdisciplinary team members.

  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and long-term care dietary requirements.
