Job summary

San Francisco Post Acute is seeking a dependable Dietary Cook for a full-time role in San Francisco, CA. You will prepare nutritious meals for residents, follow therapeutic diets, and ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule and an hourly pay rate of $22.00–$22.50. The role requires experience in cooking, comfort with high-volume meal production, and strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience required; healthcare or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices.
• Ability to prepare meals in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to follow recipes, menus, and special diet instructions accurately.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to assist where needed.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in large quantities according to established menus and recipes.
• Follow residents' special diets, therapeutic diets, and food preferences as directed.
• Prepare meals that are nutritious, appetizing, and served at the appropriate time.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
• Monitor, document, and maintain appropriate food temperatures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and work environment.
• Assist with meal service, tray preparation, serving, and kitchen cleanup.
• Properly store and label food items and monitor food quality.
• Work closely with dietary staff, nursing, and other departments to meet residents' nutritional needs.
• Support the Dietary Supervisor and help maintain smooth kitchen operations when needed.
• Demonstrate a positive, respectful, and team-oriented approach with residents and coworkers.
