Job summary

Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a Cook to prepare hot foods for patients, cafeteria, and events. The role follows a day shift (8:30 AM–5:00 PM) with 7.5 scheduled hours and alternating weekends and holidays.

You will work across stations to ensure palatable, safely cooked dishes and timely service. Responsibilities include producing accurate portions, maintaining temperature logs, and collaborating with the Food and Nutrition Team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• English proficiency to read, write and speak effectively.
• Experience in customer service and knowledge of food safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepares main entrees, soups, sauces, vegetables, salads, starches and desserts at various cooking stations.
• Transports food and non-food items to and from main kitchen, storeroom and ingredient room.
• Produces quantities for patient, cafeteria and catering needs by adjusting recipes for production levels.
• Maintains sanitary and safety standards as per NYSDOH and keeps work area clean.
• Trains other employees in area of responsibility.
• Supports Montefiore Excellence and continuous quality improvement.
