Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience preferred, preferably in a healthcare, senior living, restaurant, or institutional setting.
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices.
• Ability to follow recipes, menus, and special dietary instructions.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
• Follow therapeutic and special diet instructions as directed.
• Ensure meals are prepared accurately, attractively, and on schedule.
• Maintain proper portion sizes and food quality standards.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
• Monitor food temperatures and ensure proper food storage and handling.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area.
• Assist with meal service and ensure residents receive meals according to their dietary needs.
• Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products.
• Minimize food waste while maintaining appropriate food quality.
• Communicate effectively with dietary and nursing staff regarding resident meal needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
