Dietary Cook Job Summary:

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and providing food services to residents in a cost-efficient manner to safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

Major Duties and Critical Tasks:
  1. Prepare and serve meals for residents and staff in accordance with food safety regulations and within physician’s/nutritionist’s dietary recommendations.
  2. Maintain high standards of food preparation, sanitation, storage, and portion control.
  3. Determine food and supplies needed for daily menus; obtain supplies in time for adequate production.
  4. Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved.
  5. Assist in scheduled cleaning duties following established sanitary standards.
Other Duties:
  • Participate and assist in departmental studies and projects as assigned or as necessary.
  • Represent the facility at meetings as required.
  • Assist in standardizing work methods.
  • Perform other essential functions and duties as assigned, as the job description may not be all-inclusive.
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Knowledge of Department of Health Rules and Regulations.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a related position required.
