Job summary

Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare, LLC is hiring a Dietary Cook for full-time and PRN roles in Staunton, VA. You will prepare meals for residents, staff, and guests, follow menus, and maintain a sanitary kitchen in a 24/7 residential setting.

Requirements include being 21+, passing drug/background checks, and prior cooking experience. Knowledge of hospital/school cafeteria operations is helpful; opportunity to grow within a caregiving environment with benefits and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old at time of hire.
• Must pass pre-hire drug screen and background checks.
• Must meet all training requirements.
• Must have physical stamina to stand most of shift and lift up to 35 pounds.
• Previous cooking experience required.
• Hospital/school cafeteria experience helpful.
• Must reflect professional behavior and appearance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to the menu and ensure proper preparation, portioning, and serving in a safe, sanitary manner.
• Handle food to prevent contamination, increase quality and reduce cost.
• Set up food service line and workstations with condiments and garnishes.
• Assist in prep for the following day’s menu.
• Keep stock areas, coolers, freezers, walk-ins and hot boxes clean; label, date and store foods properly.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and follow health department codes.
• Minimize food waste via proper storage and recycling techniques.
• Operate and clean equipment (stoves, ovens, steamer, fryer, grill, mixer, dishwashers, microwave).
