Jourdanton Nursing and Rehab is currently searching for a talented Dietary Aide/Cook to join our team!

The Dietary Aide/Cook is a vital team member who will serve as a leader in the kitchen, and work closely alongside the dietary director, dietary assistant, dietary aides, and cooks to guide all food functions implementing current federal state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern skilled nursing facilities, long term care and assisted facilities.

Cook Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for the timely meal preparation of all meals consistent with the posted dining schedule and approved menus.
  • Cooks must be able to prepare meals in a timely manner and have time management skills.
  • Cooks are also in charge of pulling and properly storing meat correctly.
  • Making sure all temp logs and cleaning schedules are getting completed.

Dietary Aide Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that safety precautions, life safety, and infection control policies and procedures are followed during the daily work assignments.
  • Prepare food as assigned and assist cook as needed, assuring that food is handled and stored using proper procedures. Gain knowledge of diets and menus.
  • Serve meals, clear the main dining room, and wipe tables.
  • Wash dishes and equipment and thoroughly clean work area.
  • Make sure tray preparation follows prescribed menus and resident likes and dislikes are honored when possible.
  • Prepare and distribute snacks to the nursing department as needed.
  • Stock storeroom and bring out stock as needed.
  • Take out trash; sweep and mop floors in main dining room, kitchen, and pantry; wipe pantry shelves; scrub baseboards and walls as needed; clean appliances, equipment, freezers, etc.; always leave kitchen clean and orderly.

Cook Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid Food Handlers Permit
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience as a Cook or similar role
  • Working in a Skilled Nursing Facility experience is a plus!
