Job summary

Forest Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Carlisle, PA is seeking a Dietary Cook to prepare meals according to recipes, monitor portions, and respect dietary restrictions.

You will collaborate with the Dietary Manager to plan nutritious menus, maintain inventory, ensure food safety, and support kitchen staff in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong culinary skills, knowledge of therapeutic diets, and excellent teamwork and time management.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a cook in a nursing home or healthcare facility is preferred.
• Familiarity with therapeutic diets and dietary restrictions.
• Strong culinary skills and a genuine enthusiasm for preparing appetizing, healthful meals.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Effective organizational and time management abilities.
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in accordance with established recipes, portion control, and specific dietary restrictions.
• Ensure that the quality, presentation, and taste of meals meet the highest standards.
• Collaborate with the Dietary Manager to plan and create well-balanced and nutritious menus.
• Maintain proper inventory levels, and order supplies as needed.
• Uphold a clean and organized kitchen environment while adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Be responsive to special dietary requests or restrictions as necessary.
• Provide guidance and support to kitchen staff as required.
