Job summary

Victorian Post Acute in San Francisco is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our Dietary Services team. The Cook will prepare nutritious meals according to approved recipes and physician-ordered therapeutic diets, while ensuring food safety and high presentation standards.

In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, you will oversee daily kitchen operations and support the dietary team to ensure timely meal service for residents.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year cooking experience in healthcare setting preferred.
  • Current California Food Handler's Card required.
  • Ability to prepare therapeutic and special diets accurately.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to approved recipes, menus, and therapeutic diets.
  • Cook large quantities while maintaining consistency and quality.
  • Prepare modified and texture-altered diets, including pureed foods.
  • Follow portion control and ensure attractive presentation.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and equipment.
  • Assist with meal service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Monitor food temperatures to maintain safety standards.
  • Lead in absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
  • Communicate resident dietary concerns to the Administrator or Director of Nursing.
  • Provide orientation and training for dietary staff.

Our 90-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility is committed to providing exceptional care, and nutritious, high-quality meals are an essential part of our residents' health and recovery.This position plays a key role in our kitchen operations and serves as the lead in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
