Job summary

Pleasanton South Nursing & Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our kitchen team. You will prepare meals on schedule, oversee food production, and work closely with the dietary director and aides to ensure quality and compliance with safety standards.

This role emphasizes timely execution, proper meat handling, temperature logs, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen in a comfort-focused skilled-nursing environment. Daily pay option available to staff.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Food Handlers Permit and a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience as a Cook or similar role in a healthcare or skilled-nursing setting is preferred.
• Ability to manage time and work efficiently under posted dining schedules.
• Familiarity with federal/state/local standards for food service in long-term care facilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals on schedule and in line with posted menus.
• Pull and properly store meat; ensure temperature logs and cleaning schedules are completed.
• Serve as a kitchen leader, collaborating with dietary staff to guide all food functions.
• Maintain compliance with current standards and continuously support safe, high‑quality dining.

Pleasanton South Nursing & Rehabilitation is currently searching for a talented Cook to join our team!

Cook Responsibilities:

• This position is responsible for the timely meal preparation of all meals consistent with the posted dining schedule and approved menus.

• Cooks must be able to prepare meals in a timely manner and have time management skills.

• Cooks are also in charge of pulling and properly storing meat correctly.

• Making sure all temp logs and cleaning schedules are getting completed.

The Cook is a vital team member who will serve as a leader in the kitchen, and work closely alongside the dietary director, dietary assistant, dietary aides, and cooks to guide all food functions implementing current federal state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern skilled nursing facilities, long term care and assisted facilities.

Cook Requirements:

• Experience as a Cook or similar role

• Working in a Skilled Nursing Facility experience is a plus!
