Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center is seeking a food service worker to join the hospital dietary team. The role involves preparing work areas, maintaining sanitation, serving customers, and ensuring quality food items are produced and presented.

The position is night shift, 40 hours per week, with opportunities to contribute to department operations and food safety practices in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • Current Food Handlers card or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • PIC training provided through the County Health Department.
  • To be completed as established by department (Administered at Department level).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred qualification).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares all work areas for operation, per task assignment including filling bucket with sanitizing solution, and a clean wiping cloth. Maintain sanitizer strength throughout shift.
  • Set-up area including utensils, restock, clean and organize assigned area maintaining cleanliness throughout the shift.
  • Produces and maintains attractive, appetizing and quality food and beverage products.
  • Follows menu cycle, proper portions and standardized recipes preparing food items in batch production. Utilizes leftovers, using the first in, first out method.
  • Greets customers, politely asks for order and efficiently serves customer. Remains focused on the customer and service throughout the encounter.
  • Addresses customer complaints in a polite professional manner. Seeks management assistance when needed.
  • Cleans spills promptly and post appropriate caution signage. Removes trash from service areas promptly.
  • Merchandises area through: Clean, uncluttered, attractive and orderly arrangement of work area.
  • Ensures that all activities meet sanitation, safety and quality control guidelines set forth by departmental policies.
  • Documents refrigerator, dish machine or other equipment temperatures as assigned. Alerts facilities and management of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Properly operates, cleans and stores equipment in assigned area.
  • Properly stores and labels food items and chemicals.

  2. Computer skills - know how to use basic computer components (keyboard, mouse, tablet) and basic computer applications such as Microsoft word.
  3. Telephone skills - know how to use speaker phones, headsets, and telephone etiquette.
