Job summary

OPCO Skilled Management in Las Cruces, NM, seeks a PRN Food Service Assistant to assist cooks, prepare nourishments, desserts, and beverages for patients and staff in a nursing center. You will follow production sheets, portion foods, and support dining room service during meals.

Responsibilities

• Assists cook as directed by the food service director
• Prepares and labels nourishments according to center procedures
• Prepares and portions desserts, salads and other non-entree foods into dishes; pours beverages
• Follows production sheets and pre-preparation sheets or guidelines when appropriate
• Sets dining room tables for meals when assigned
• Works on meal tray serving line; sets-up before start of meal service; cleans up after serving line
• Reads and follows tray tickets when serving meals
• Serves meal trays to patients and pours beverages for patients when assigned to dining room
• Clears tables of dishes and trash
• Pushes food carts to appropriate patient care areas
• Communicates with patients during meal times when serving in dining areas

Job description

Performs a variety of tasks usually not requiring cooking skills in the preparation, service, and clean up for meals served to patients and staff in the nursing center and other special events.

• Communicates with patients during meal times when serving in dining areas
