Dietary Aide Position Description

A dietary aide is responsible for tasks in the preparation, service, and cleanup for meals served to residents in the nursing center. Maintains an attractive and sanitary dining room, meal service, and delivery.

Dietary Aide Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: One year of experience in large-scale cooking operations.

Dietary Aide Responsibilities

• Assists with food ordering, storage, and preparation as directed by the supervisor.
• Assists cooks as directed.
• Prepares and labels nourishments according to procedures.
• Prepares and portions desserts, salads, and other non-entre foods; pours beverages.
• Follows production and pre-preparation sheets or guidelines.
• Completes pre-preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits; slices meat; measures for menu compliance.
• Follows cleaning schedule; cleans equipment and work area; sweeps and mops kitchen floors; takes out trash; washes pots and pans.
• Ensures meal schedules are met.
• Washes dishes and silverware; puts away clean items; assists with cleaning kitchen equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned at any time.
